About Helvy
Helvy was built to close the gap between what the NHS routinely checks and what your body actually needs measured. We believe everyone deserves access to the same blood work that was once reserved for elite athletes and private clinics.
The problem
A standard NHS health check looks at cholesterol, blood sugar, and perhaps kidney or liver function. It is designed to catch disease that has already developed — not to identify the early drift that leads to it.
Vitamin D deficiency affects 1 in 5 UK adults. Iron deficiency affects up to 25% of women of childbearing age. Thyroid dysfunction is present in 2–5% of the population, much of it undiagnosed. These are not rare conditions. They are the silent, treatable causes behind the fatigue, brain fog, and poor recovery that millions of people accept as normal.
An NHS GP will rarely check vitamin D, B12, ferritin, testosterone, hs-CRP, or ApoB unless you present with specific symptoms and insist. Helvy checks all of them — plus 40 more — from a single finger-prick sample taken at home.
Our approach
NHS reference ranges are set wide — designed to flag disease, not to tell you whether you are genuinely thriving. You can sit in the bottom 5% of the “normal” vitamin D range and your GP will tell you everything is fine. It is not fine. It is the difference between surviving and feeling good.
Helvy reports every biomarker against evidence-based optimal ranges drawn from peer-reviewed literature — the ranges associated with lowest all-cause mortality, best energy, and strongest recovery. Your results show where you sit on a spectrum, not just whether you pass a binary threshold.
Every result is reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor before it reaches you. Critical findings are flagged immediately with a recommendation to see your GP.

Lab quality
Your sample is analysed in the same NHS laboratories used for hospital and GP blood tests. Every lab holds UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189 — the international standard for medical testing quality.
Our finger-prick collection kits have been clinically validated against venous blood draws for every biomarker in our panels. The same analytical methods, the same instruments, the same quality controls.
A GMC-registered GP reviews your results before they reach you. Abnormal findings are flagged with clinical context and a recommendation to see your doctor. We do not diagnose — we give you the evidence your GP needs.
We publish the optimal ranges we use, the evidence behind them, and the peer-reviewed references that informed each threshold. Nothing is hidden behind proprietary scoring.
Clinical governance
Our advisory board shapes how we interpret results, set optimal ranges, and flag findings. Every clinical decision has a named doctor behind it.
Medical Director
GMC Registered · GP, MRCGP
Oversees result review protocols, flags policy, and GP referral pathways. Reviews critical findings before patient release.
Clinical Biochemist
FRCPath · Clinical Scientist
Sets optimal reference ranges, validates biomarker panel composition, and ensures analytical methodology meets ISO 15189 standards.
Sports & Exercise Medicine
MFSEM · BASES Accredited
Advises on performance biomarker interpretation, training-adapted reference ranges, and athlete-specific flagging thresholds.
Advisory board appointments are being finalised. Named clinicians and GMC numbers will be published here once confirmed.
Data & privacy
Blood test results are UK GDPR Special Category Data — the most protected classification under data protection law. We treat them accordingly.
Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We process it under explicit consent, audit every access event, and honour your right to erasure without friction. We do not sell or share your health data with third parties. We do not use it for advertising. We do not train AI models on it.
Analytics are pseudonymised. Push notifications never contain biomarker values. Shareable score cards show aggregate health scores, not individual results, unless you explicitly choose to share more.
Most people have never had a comprehensive blood test. Not because they don't care — because nobody made it easy enough to justify the effort.
