All seventeen are inside the lab range. Ten have no agreed tighter range.
Ranges shown for male, age 38.
The total B12 in your blood, most of which is bound to a carrier your cells cannot use. It is the standard first-line test and it is a blunt one.

Lab range 50 to 250 nmol/LConvention 75 to 125 nmol/L, not a guidelineEndocrine Society 2011, alongside SACN 2016 and ROS 2018
UK guidance sets sufficiency at 50 nmol/L, and that figure is the well-evidenced one. The 75 to 125 band is a convention from a different jurisdiction, so it is stated in prose next to the UK figure and never drawn as a band. ng/mL times 2.5 gives nmol/L.

Lab range under 5 mmol/LWe look for under 5 mmol/LNHS and HEART UK healthy level

Lab range over 1 mmol/LWe look for 1 to 2.4 mmol/LMadsen 2017 Copenhagen cohorts with the NHS low-HDL threshold

Lab range under 3 mmol/LWe look for under 3 mmol/LESC/EAS 2019 dyslipidaemia guideline, low-risk goal

Lab range under 2.3 mmol/LWe look for under 2 mmol/LEAS and EFLM non-fasting lipid consensus
Where we look for it.
Lab range under 6 ratioConvention under 4 ratio, not a guidelineHEART UK convention; the ratio is the lipid input to QRISK3
A convention rather than a guideline figure, and it improves with a rise in HDL that carries no proven benefit. Stated in prose, never drawn as a band.

Lab range under 4 mmol/LWe look for under 3.4 mmol/LESC/EAS 2019 dyslipidaemia guideline, moderate-risk goal

Lab range 166 to 507 nmol/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for cortisol beyond the laboratory's. The NICE thresholds are assay specific and apply to a timed 07:00 to 10:00 sample, and a high reading inside the laboratory's range is not a measure of stress.

Lab range 0.3 to 4.2 mIU/LWe look for 1.5 to 3.5 mIU/LXu 2023 Lancet Diabetes Endocrinol individual-participant meta-analysis

Lab range 12 to 22 pmol/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range we can show for free T4 yet. The research figure depends on which assay the laboratory ran, and UK laboratory intervals for this marker differ widely, so we will add it once it is confirmed with our laboratory. Your laboratory's own range is the one to read this against.

Lab range under 5 mg/LNo agreed tighter range
A standard-sensitivity CRP cannot resolve the low bands the research uses, so there is no agreed research range to show beside it. The high-sensitivity version of the same test can.

Lab range 0.7 to 1 mmol/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for serum magnesium beyond the laboratory's. Under one percent of the body's magnesium is in the blood and the kidneys defend that level, so a result in the middle of the laboratory's range does not tell you what your intake has been.

Lab range 35 to 50 g/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for albumin beyond the laboratory's. It falls with inflammation and rises with dehydration, so a high-normal figure would reward a dry sample.
Inside the lab reference range.
Lab range 60 to 80 g/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for total protein beyond the laboratory's. A normal total can sit on top of a low albumin and a high globulin, so it is read alongside albumin.

Lab range 2.5 to 7.8 mmol/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for urea beyond the laboratory's. It moves with protein intake and hydration before it moves with kidney function.

Lab range 59 to 104 umol/LNo agreed tighter range
There is no agreed research range for creatinine beyond the laboratory's, and the laboratory's is sex-split because it reflects muscle mass as much as filtration. The interpretable number is eGFR.

Next:For the markers above: nothing needs doing today. Your retest in twelve weeks shows whether they move.
This is your lab result and general information about each marker. It is not a diagnosis and it is not medical advice. One blood test is a snapshot of one day. If a result worries you, or you have symptoms, speak to your GP.
Reference ranges in this example come from static demonstration data and published UK reference intervals. Your own laboratory’s ranges may differ. This sample cannot interpret a result from another test.
